For setting up Google Analytics to be integrated with Visualr, first, you need to create a Service Account for accessing Google APIs, for which you are required to log in to https://console.developers.google.com and create a new project. After doing so, you must enter the Library and enable the Analytics API. Next, you need to enter the Product & Services section and create a new Service Account with the role of a Project Viewer. Further, you are required to generate a new private key, with the key type designated as JSON, and save the private key of service account on the computer. You are strongly recommended to keep the Service Account ID and the private key file safe to be used for setting up Google Analytics in Visualr.
The next step is enabling access to service account on Google Analytics Account, for which you need to visit https://analytics.google.com and select Google Analytics account on which you want to grant access to service account through the Admin tab. Here again, the last 9 digits of the URL are recommended to be kept safe as they will be used as Profile ID. Now you need to enable the ‘Edit, Collaborate, Read & Analyze’ permission through the User Management section, and finally click on the ‘Add’ button to complete this step.
Finally, for creating the Data API in Visualr, you must enter the Data API section, select Google Analytics, and add a new record. Now you are required to enter the name and Profile ID copied previously, and browse them. JSON file containing the private key already downloaded by you. Now just select the date, dimensions, and measures, and click the ‘Save’ button to complete the process.
For adding a Twitter profile data to Visualr, you first need to fetch the data from the Twitter profile, for which you are required to connect to Twitter through Visualr. The application redirects you to the Twitter website for authentication and once the credentials are verified, pulls all the data required by you to help you creating dashboards. The data fetched by a Twitter profile may broadly be organized into these three categories, which are ‘Followers List’ denoting the entire list of Twitter users that have been following your Twitter profile; ‘Friends List’ that includes the Twitter profiles being followed by you; and ‘User Details’ that contains vital information about the Twitter profiles either following you or being followed by you, such as Twitter handle, name, age, sex, location, description, interests and so on.
Apart from this, other sub-categories include ‘Top Trends’ that contains the trends which are running at the top in the Twitter world on global or geographical basis; ‘Tweets’ displaying the tweets that have been either posted or re-tweeted by the Twitter profile that is being
analyzed; ‘Users Most Re-tweeted’ containing the Twitter users whose tweets have been re-tweeted the most by the Twitter profile being analyzed; ‘Users Most Mentioned’ showing the Twitter users whose handle have been mentioned the most by the Twitter profile being analyzed; and finally ‘Users Most Used Hashtag’ that reveals which hashtags does the Twitter profile being analyzed prefers to propagate the most.
For adding a Twitter profile to Data Provider section of Visualr, first of all, you must enter a name for the new Twitter data provider record to be saved in Visualr, by typing in a name in the ‘Name’ text field. After this, you categorically need to select the checkboxes against all the data types you need to pull through a Twitter profile, while adding a new Twitter profile to Visualr using the ‘ADD NEW
TWITTER DATA PROVIDER’ dialog box. Finally, click the green ‘Save’ button, and the required Twitter data will be fetched and added to the Twitter database of the Data Provider section of Visualr.
