Telecom Players Adopting Data Visualization to Improve Customer Experiences

Introduction

Almost every industry including telecom sector, that matters nowadays is gearing up towards adopting data visualization and analytics. That help to streamline its operations and hone its future business strategies to maximize profits and minimize costs. And if an industry sector in question itself has to deal with transfer of data between enterprises and individuals, the boundless scope of benefits that can be achieved with data visualization and analytics can just be left for imagination.

Clearly, telecommunications sector is one such industry sector. The core activities of which primarily revolve around the communication or transfer of digital data from one point to another. If they can access the data that travels through their networks every second, why not analyze the heck out of it? And find better ways to deliver phone, Internet and TV provisions.

Data visualization in telecom

The telecom sector’s use of data visualization and analytics tools would increase at a compound annual growth rate of 28.28 percent over the next four years. As quoted by an industry expert.

Visualization in Telecom

The value of data visualization and analytics, lies in the software’s ability to show industry leaders how their services are being used. For instance, assessing how much video the average telecom customer accesses on a daily basis gives telecom companies a clear picture. A clear picture of how its assets can be leveraged to improve the delivery of such content.

This truly makes a very important point to be noted. Every telecom provider has spent billions in establishing a nationwide or continental infrastructure. Although IT and communications researchers have developed new technology that allows information to be delivered faster and more efficiently. Yet it doesn’t make much sense for a telecom company to replace existing property with more advanced assets in terms of economic constraints.

As a matter of fact, real-time data visualization and analytics have proven to be of greatest use for the telecom sector. In a study conducted recently, the details of real-time data visualization and analytics as it applies to the telecom industry had been minutely examined. The study asserts that telecom companies already have two assets in their arsenal. First asset is probes, which are implementations that collect information for the sake of delivering it to solutions capable of analyzing it. Second asset is appliances or devices that are capable of both aggregating and scrutinizing data. But the finished intelligence produced by these processes is stored locally wherever these appliances exist.

The study stressed that both appliances and probes serve as valuable sources of information for real-time data visualization and analytics software. Latter of the two assets are usually assigned to carry out certain tasks, such monitoring the performance of other systems or making security assessments.

Further, it was noted in the study that connecting all the three assets, telecom companies have realized considerable benefits. They have been able to significantly reduce data packet loss, that occurs when network’s overloaded.  Finally, real-time time stamping creates exact measurements of jitters and delay in mobile networks, allowing telecom companies to improve customer experiences.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, it was emphasized in the study that by considering real-time data visualization and analytics in a more strategic way, telecom companies will be able to gain a better source of information for planning decisions, while opening up new opportunities for additional services.
